The Evening Housekeeper ensures high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained throughout the home in line with Health & Safety guidelines and the day-to-day delivery of excellence in Infection Control to ensure a clean and maintained environment.

Pembroke House is a purpose built care home for veterans of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines in Gillingham. We have been serving Royal Navy and Royal Marines veterans and their dependants for over 70 years. Our residents and staff enjoy a varied yet familiar way of life to encourage independence and give each day meaning and purpose. The home has a ‘family run’ feel and we have carefully created a supportive, friendly and close knit team, making it a unique and very special place to work.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide residents with clean accommodation, linen and personal laundry as required
  • Ensure walkways are clean, tidy and clear of clutter
  • Work within Health and Safety guidelines and policies
  • Maintain awareness of COSHH responsibilities
  • Monitor supplies of cleaning products and PPE and report to the housekeeping supervisor
  • Ensure that all mechanical and other equipment is used as per manufacturer’s instructions and stored in a safe and clean condition
  • Ensure that cleaning schedules and policies are adhered to
  • Complete all appropriate records as required
  • Carry out any other reasonable instructions of the Home Manager

The Person

This role would suit someone who is naturally dependable, compassionate and trustworthy. They should be able to empathise with the needs of the residents, have patience and understanding and above all be kind and caring. They will need to be flexible, enthusiastic and use their own initiative.
