An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Private Patient Billing and Credit Control team as a Consultant Account Specialist. The successful applicant will require strong communication skills and possess a methodical approach to query investigation and process improvement. They will be responsible for managing a portfolio of Consultant billing accounts, ensuring that strong working relationships are developed and maintained with all service users.
The post holder will work independently in a pro-active manner to maximise the activity on the account by effectively managing the development of their portfolio to ensure billing and debt targets are achieved whilst engaging with, supporting and partnering with the Consultants using the service. They will also be responsible for ensuring payments are processed successfully, efficiently and accurately.
Main duties of the job include:
- Management of a portfolio of consultants, account setup and maintenance, billing accuracy investigation, query management and debt escalations of consultant billing activity within the Billing and Credit Control team.
- Developing relationships across the Private care directorate and working collaboratively with these teams to develop the Consultant billing offering, ensuring all KPIs are achieved.
- Leading and monitoring the business critical professional fees payment processes each month, assigning duties across teams to ensure accurate download, reconciliation, comparison and calculation take place for presentation to senior management for authorisation prior to submission to SBS.
- Leading fortnightly cross department Consultant meetings to ensure that key risks or trends are identified and a remedial plan put in place to ensure service levels are maintained.
- Creating and reviewing the Consultant dashboard and other monthly and annual reports to ensure accurate reporting is provided on consultant payment, invoice and debt activity.
- Maintaining the consultant billing standard operating procedures and training guides ensuring they are adhered to.
- Regularly reviewing queries from billing errors and highlighting any areas of training development.
- Establishing and maintaining good relationships and communication with consultants and throughout the Directorate, promoting a culture where staff are actively involved in decisions on how services are provided and targets delivered.
Person specification includes:
- Education/Qualifications: GCSEs in Mathematics and English Language, A level equivalent qualification, University degree and/or CCAB certificate level or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience: Experience of Billing of PMI, Embassy and all other types of Sponsors; Account management experience; Experience working with consultants; Desirable criteria include extensive Billing or Credit Control experience.
- Knowledge: Ability to work autonomously to meet pre-set objectives, strong excel skills, ability to work under time pressure, high level of analytical skills, good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Skills Abilities: Self-motivating and demonstrating initiative, articulate, conscientious and attentive to detail, good time management and ability to prioritise own workload.
