This is an exciting opportunity to join the Teenage & Young Adult (TYA) Team at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and play a pivotal role in the on-going commitment to promote and enhance the quality of holistic supportive care provided to all our TYA patients. This will be a cross-site role with the postholder based on the TYA Unit at the Royal Marsden Sutton but providing an outreach service to the Fulham Road branch of the Royal Marsden, as required.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join a specialist team dedicated to improving the care and overall patient experience of Teenagers and Young Adults (TYAs) with cancer. Working collaboratively alongside Clinical Nurse Specialists, and other members of the TYA MDT, you will provide non-clinical support to TYA patients throughout their cancer pathways.
You will work closely alongside the TYA Lead Nurse and help support and facilitate individually tailored and group peer support to 16-24 year-old patients both within and outside of The Royal Marsden Hospital site. The Teenage Cancer Trust Youth Support Coordinator is a core member of the Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) multi-disciplinary team, responsible for providing both individually tailored and group peer support to 16-24 year-old patients within The Royal Marsden.
The post holder will be based on the Teenage Cancer Trust Unit at the Royal Marsden Sutton site but will provide support to this patient cohort throughout the Trust, including at our Chelsea Branch. The Youth Support Coordinator will work collaboratively with clinical teams and colleagues from the TYA service to both lead and contribute to a wide range of appropriate recreational activities to enable and encourage patients to socialize and remain active as young people, both through the cancer trajectory and transitioning to live with and after cancer.
