We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Band 6 Staff Nurse for the Robert Tiffany Ward. The ward consists of 13 rooms and 2 surgical day areas, offering specialist facilities to provide excellent ongoing care of patients throughout their cancer journey. Full‑time and part‑time working patterns will be considered.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise a shift, communicating effectively with members of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality, evidence‑led care to patients.
- Exercise clinical judgment and decision‑making about patient needs in terms of long‑term goals or plans.
- Participate fully in the day‑to‑day organisation and running of clinical trials, including recruitment, education and monitoring of patients entering a clinical trial and liaison with trial sponsors.
- Assume personal accountability for nursing care delivered to a patient in accordance with the NMC code of conduct.
- Promote a safe clinical environment for all patients, visitors and staff.
- Participate in Trust initiatives around infection control and care quality indicators.
- Assist with any local or Trust initiatives to ensure continuous improvement of the quality of services and safeguarding of high standards of care.
- Be aware of all hospital policies and procedures and collaborate with other health‑care professionals to ensure that these are observed.
- Help foster a supportive working environment and maintain staff morale.
Qualifications
- Experience in haematology and/or oncology, or a willingness to complete chemotherapy competencies and required training.
- Vision and passion to help optimise high‑quality patient care and enable excellent teamwork.
- A positive role model with a willingness to learn and develop.
- Ability to work effectively within the NICE Safer Staffing guidelines, maintaining a favourable nurse‑to‑patient ratio.
