The Admissions & Pre-Assessment team in Sutton are looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills to complete our team. The team consists of Nurses, anaesthetists, health care assistants, administrators, technicians (CPET and ECHO), research nurses and anaemia service CNS. We provide a nurse-led clinic supported by our anaesthetic consultants for patients undergoing surgery for a range of procedures and specialties. We also support the elective admission pathway in the hospital and work closely with the Clinical site practitioners. We work collaboratively with the Endoscopy, interventional radiology, private care and day surgery teams. Our aim is to provide safe effective pre-operative care and we are responsible for ensuring a safe patient assessment in line with Royal Marsden and National guidelines and deliver a high standard of care with a patient-centred approach.
Recently, this team has supported the pre-operative pathway for oncology patients across London to continue to deliver as much cancer treatment as possible, with the initial focus being surgery. We are looking for someone with a positive and progressive attitude, ability to problem solve, competent in advanced assessment skills and works well in a multi-disciplinary team.
Responsibilities:- To coordinate and supervise a shift, communicating effectively with members of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality, evidence-led care to patients.
- To exercise clinical judgment and decision making about patient needs in terms of long term goals or plans.
- To participate fully in the day to day organization and running of clinical trials including the recruitment, education and monitoring of patients entering a clinical trial and liaison as required with trial sponsors.
- To assume personal accountability for nursing care delivered to a patient in accordance with the NMC code of conduct.
- Promote a safe clinical environment for all patients, visitors and staff.
- Participate in Trust initiatives around infection control and care quality indicators.
- Assist with any local or trust initiatives to ensure the continuous improvement of the quality of services and safeguarding of high standards of care.
- Be aware of all hospital policies and procedures and collaborate with other health care professionals to ensure that these are observed.
- Help foster a supportive working environment and maintain staff morale.
