An exciting opportunity has arisen for an HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join our Stem Cell and Cellular Therapy Laboratory. This highly specialised role is part of a Haematology/Oncology stem cell transplant and cellular therapy programme. Working in an HTA‑licensed and JACIE‑accredited laboratory, you will help deliver a vital clinical service supporting patients receiving haematopoietic stem cell transplants and advanced cellular therapies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in receiving, testing, processing, storing and issuing a wide range of cellular therapy products, including autologous and allogeneic haematopoietic progenitor cells.
  • Help produce and store cryopreserved and fresh cellular products for direct clinical use.
  • Prepare starting materials and store final products for Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products such as CAR‑T and TIL therapies.
  • Maintain clean room facilities and cryogenic storage, perform routine cleaning and environmental testing to ensure suitable conditions for stem cell processing.
  • Ensure traceability of cells from donor to recipient with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Liaise with clinical and ward staff in the stem cell transplant programme and collaborate closely with Immunophenotyping and Microbiology teams.
  • Participate fully in meeting regulatory requirements, contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the department.
