We are looking for a committed, enthusiastic and self‑motivated Band 5 nurse to join our well established team on Ellis Ward, a 14‑bed adult female surgical ward predominantly caring for patients undergoing treatment for breast and gynaecological cancers as well as other specialities including colorectal, upper GI and urology. The successful candidate will deliver evidence‑based nursing care in partnership with the Charge Nurse and Ward Sister, and will be supported by a supernumerary period that allows you to explore the ward, work with mentors and members of the multidisciplinary team, and develop your nursing oncology knowledge and leadership skills.
Responsibilities
- Plan, document, deliver and evaluate evidence‑based nursing care for patients.
- Manage a shift with guidance from the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, mentor peers, and contribute to the ward’s commitment to excellence in patient care, professional development, and quality improvement.
Education & Qualifications
- Essential: Registration as a registered nurse
- Essential: Evidence of ongoing professional development
- Desirable: Qualification in oncology or a relevant speciality
- Desirable: Diploma or degree level study (or equivalent)
- Desirable: Recognised teaching qualification
Experience
- Essential: Experience in intravenous drug administration
- Essential: Sufficient post‑registration nursing experience in oncology or a speciality to be confident and competent in using the required skills
- Desirable: Experience in chemotherapy administration
- Desirable: Experience in clinical management
- Desirable: Evidence of relevant teaching experience
- Desirable: Knowledge and understanding of clinical trials management
