Responsibilities:
- Work within the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and the Institute of Cancer Research Tissue Collection Facility, collecting, cataloguing and processing clinical samples (tumour and blood) for translational research within Renal, Melanoma and Solid Tumour Cellular Therapies.
- Manage translational research samples through the unit, ensuring all procedures meet Human Tissue Act requirements and Good Clinical Practice UK Regulations for hosted commercial/academic studies, and for all tissue retrieved for central review from participating centres in the UK and globally for the Trust's sponsored studies.
- Collect archival and new tissue samples, process and label samples, and manage the collection and storage of samples in appropriate conditions (fridges, freezers, liquid nitrogen).
- Receive samples in-house and travel off site for retrieval of relevant material.
- Coordinate the dispatch of samples to other centres where required.
- Maintain responsibility for all stored samples and the management of the data associated with the collected material and other archival samples.
- Work independently on a daily basis but as an integral part of a busy research department.
Qualifications:
- Enthusiastic and motivated, with an active interest in cancer research.
- Ability to work semi-independently within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly organised and meticulous in working methods.
- Availability to travel cross site between Sutton and Chelsea as needed.
