Following the expansion of our Interventional Radiology (IR) service, we are excited to build our pioneer IR nursing workforce at the new Royal Marsden IR Unit in Sutton. As we establish this new service, we are accepting applications from nurses who are currently working independently in IR or from other clinical areas such as endoscopy, cath lab, theatres, or ICU where you can evidence transferable skills essential to the role.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist or scrub in the procedure room.
  • Provide nurse‑led conscious sedation.
  • Care for patients in Stage 1 recovery.
  • Lead pre‑assessment for sedation cases.
  • Rotate through clinical areas within IR as required.
  • Work with multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, efficient and effective service.

Qualifications:

  • Currently working independently in IR or from other clinical areas such as endoscopy, cath lab, theatres, or ICU with transferable skills.
  • Demonstrate the clinical skills required, including providing sedation, recovery and pre‑assessment.
  • Meet the NMC Code of Conduct and Scope of Professional Practice.
  • Ability to assess patient needs and evaluate appropriate care within Trust policies and procedures.

Shift Details:

  • Shifts are allocated according to service needs every Tuesday and Thursday:
  • Procedure Room / Sedation RN: 08:00‑17:00 or 08:30‑17:30
  • Recovery RN: 09:00‑18:00 or 09:30‑18:30
  • Nurse‑led pre‑assessment: TBC @ 8.5 hours
