Based in the London and Aylesbury offices, this role will support the Property and Facilities Manager by carrying out general maintenance, porterage and facilities duties, assisting with the movement and set-up of furniture and equipment, undertaking minor repairs and supporting the day-to-day operational needs of both sites. The postholder will work collaboratively with departments across the organisation, including the Library and Gallery and Club teams, providing practical support for exhibitions, functions, office moves and other operational activities to ensure the buildings remain safe, compliant and fully operational.
Providing practical property and facilities support across the Royal Kennel Club's Aylesbury and London sites by undertaking general maintenance, porterage and odd-job duties, ensuring the buildings are safe, well presented and fully operational. The role supports the efficient day-to-day running of the organisation by responding to maintenance requests, assisting with office moves, exhibitions, functions and event set-up, carrying out routine inspections and liaising with contractors where required. The postholder will work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to maintain a positive environment for employees, visitors and tenants.

Requirements

Essential
- Experience in a property maintenance, facilities, porter, caretaker, building services or similar practical role.
- Experience of carrying out general building maintenance and minor repairs.
- Good practical DIY skills, including the safe use of hand and basic power tools.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety practices.
- Ability to move and handle furniture, equipment and deliveries safely in accordance with manual handling guidance.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a varied workload and respond to changing business needs.
- Strong customer service and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, visitors and contractors.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly between the Aylesbury and London sites.
- Previous experience within a multi-site facilities or property environment.
- First Aid at Work and/or Fire Marshal qualification (or willingness to undertake training).
- Basic knowledge of statutory building compliance, including fire safety, water hygiene and workplace inspections.
- Experience supporting office moves, exhibitions, hospitality or corporate events.
- Experience working with contractors and external suppliers.
- Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office for completing records and communicating with colleagues.
