The Royal Kennel Club is entering an exciting new chapter. As we reposition ourselves as a premium, heritage-led brand at the heart of British dog culture, we’re looking for a proactive, detail-oriented Senior PR & Comms Officer to help shape how we show up in the national conversation.
This is a hands-on, fast-moving role where you’ll be at the centre of our press office activity; delivering standout media coverage, protecting and enhancing reputation, and helping to tell stories that reinforce trust, tradition and modern relevance in equal measure. You’ll work closely with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging across campaigns, while identifying and delivering opportunities for earned coverage across national, specialist and digital media.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Writing and distributing press releases, statements and media materials across national and specialist press
- Supporting proactive media engagement around thought leadership and policy activity
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with journalists and editorial contacts
- Monitoring coverage, analysing performance and reporting on impact
- Managing reactive media enquiries and supporting reputational risk responses
- Preparing briefing packs, Q&As and messaging for spokespeople and senior leaders
- Coordinating media events, photocalls and press activity across key RKC moments
- Supporting influencer and talent activity, including briefing and coordination
- Maintaining media databases and managing press assets
What You’ll Bring:
- 1+ year experience in a press office, PR agency or newsroom environment
- Strong writing skills with the ability to turn complex information into clear, compelling content
- A sharp news sense and strong understanding of the media landscape
- Highly organised, adaptable and confident working to tight deadlines
- Comfortable working with senior stakeholders and spokespeople
- Experience using media databases and monitoring tools (e.g. Cision)
- An interest in animal welfare and the canine world is highly desirable
