The Financial Controller will lead and develop the Royal Kennel Club’s (RKC) financial accounting and controls function to ensure compliance with statutory and fiduciary responsibilities. They will lead the preparation and timely submission of the year-end financial accounts for RKC, including contributing to the annual report for finance related updates, as well as managing the on-time delivery of the annual audit. Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the financial records, manage accounting activities and provide financial reporting and analysis on a timely basis. Play a key role in budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management with management and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Act as a trusted advisor to management with the Head of FP&A, offering insightful financial analysis and constructive challenge to enhance performance and decision-making.
- Collaborate with the Executive team and their direct reports to build financial accountability.
- Deliver clear, actionable financial analysis that informs business decisions.
- Providing support to the CFO on growth strategies, specific projects and ad hoc business analysis requests.
- Leading accurate and timely delivery of the monthly and year-end close processes.
- Ensure appropriate governance and protocols exist between roles in the finance function.
- Ensure payment runs are accurate, timely and robust procedures are in place to ensure payments are made with confidence.
- Developing and maintaining financial and operational dashboards for internal stakeholders.
- Lead, grow and mentor a team of qualified finance professionals, fostering growth and accountability.
What You’ll Bring:
- Fully qualified accountant (CA) with strong technical accounting knowledge – CA qualified achieved in an accounting practice.
- Proven experience in designing and leading implementation from the finance team perspective of an ERP system such as NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms including the preparation of records for cut-over to a new ERP solution.
- Proven experience managing a team of five or more staff and developing and growing a high-performing finance team.
- Proven experience managing successful yearly audits from planning to completion.
- Strong skills in cashflow management.
- Strong understanding of statutory accounting requirements, audit processes, and financial risk management.
- Experience managing and mentoring finance teams, fostering a culture of performance and continuous improvement.
- Proven experience working with senior stakeholders and providing financial insights to support strategic decision-making.
