Its home to many of our specialist teams, as well as housing residents and tenants across the wider Estate. Most of the buildings are scheduled ancient monuments or listed buildings. Youll therefore play an important role facilitating the modern-day workings of the Palace, while also preserving these iconic historic buildings for generations to come.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement best practice approaches for the conservation, repair and maintenance of the building fabric of the estate.
- Manage a portfolio of works of varying scale, from planning to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Manage budgets, tender processes, contracts and contractors, ensuring value for money and high-quality service delivery.
- Provide technical support including specification writing for Specialist Term Contracts / Projects to ensure compliance across the Property Section team with statutory duties and legislative requirements.
- Ensure compliance with statutory duties and legislative requirements, promoting a culture of risk awareness and management.
- Pro-actively manage stakeholder relationships and communicate regularly to internal stakeholders on the progress and impact of works to minimise disruption.
Essential Criteria:
- Relevant experience as a Building Surveyor, ideally gained within an environment of occupied spaces. Experience of managing and maintaining historic / listed buildings would also be an advantage.
- A good understanding of sustainable building approaches and experience of environmental considerations, such as energy efficiency and sustainable building materials, ideally involving heritage assets.
- Ability to manage a varied portfolio of work, adapt to changing circumstances and prioritise work/resources.
- A logical problem solver with good judgement and decision-making capability. Able to remain level-headed under pressure.
- Adept at managing stakeholder relationships, with diplomatic interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach.
- Experience of control and contract management, ideally gained within a value for money environment.
- IT literate with a good working knowledge of MS Office and CAD.
