Facilitating meaningful contact between Their Majesties and the world through careful coordination, thoughtful briefings and seamless delivery of engagements. This is the mission statement of the Royal Engagements Team in the Private Secretary's Office (PSO). We are looking for a new Royal Engagements Officer to join our dynamic team.

The Private Secretary's Office supports The King in relation to constitutional, governmental, and political duties as Head of State. Our dedicated and talented team within the PSO organises domestic and overseas official visits, audiences at Royal Residences and speeches.

As part of the Royal Engagements team, you will be responsible for planning and delivering world‐leading engagements by His Majesty The King and joint engagements by The King and Queen.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Collaborate with Private Secretaries to deliver a varied programme of engagements, both domestic and overseas, ensuring each engagement has clearly defined objectives and overseeing all aspects of planning and logistics.
  • Lead the end‐to‐end logistical planning of engagements, including detailed timelines, task delegation, and responsibility breakdowns for all key stakeholders. Ensure every logistical aspect is meticulously planned and executed to the highest standard.
  • Coordinate communication between various internal departments (e.g. Communications, Security, Travel, and Events teams) to ensure all logistical elements are aligned and cohesive, fostering a collaborative, well‐coordinated approach to engagement execution.
  • Represent the Royal Household in communicating with a wide range of external stakeholders in the lead up to engagements, including senior stakeholders, showcasing exceptional professionalism at all times.
  • Lead the planning and execution of recces for external engagements, working with stakeholders to assess all logistical, security, and protocol needs. Use the findings to refine engagement plans and ensure that all aspects of the visit are fully optimised, and risk mitigated.
  • Provide on‐site support during engagements, managing logistics in real‐time and acting as the central point of contact for all involved parties.
  • Draft meticulous, comprehensive briefings on a wide range of topics, including complex and sensitive issues, gathering input from colleagues as well as external stakeholders.

And in all you do, you will aim to bring people closer to The King and Royal Family and the important work they do.

Please note: This is a fixed term opportunity until November 2026. This is an office‐based role, with opportunities to travel across the UK when required.

Qualifications
  • You will have previous event management experience, with a track record of managing high‐profile events or programme management, eager to apply your skills in a new environment.
  • Project management and organisational skills will be vital, along with a detail orientated and analytical approach, and problem‐solving aptitude.
  • With excellent verbal and written communication drafting, briefing and presentation skills, you are adept at absorbing and rapidly assimilating often complex and nuanced material, and able to communicate a large volume of information succinctly with meticulous attention to detail.
  • With a track record of working in a high‐profile setting, you thrive in a fast‐paced, dynamic environment, are able to efficiently and calmly adapt, and find solutions in the moment when faced with changing circumstances.
  • With exceptional interpersonal skills, you are able to quickly build credibility at a senior level, both internally and externally, and used to managing stakeholders and delivering to a high standard.
  • Whilst a general knowledge of national and international current affairs and an understanding of political and economic infrastructure would be desirable, it's your strong diplomacy skills and ability to work across international boundaries that will help you excel in this role.
Benefits
  • Enjoy 25 days annual leave, rising to 30 days (plus bank holidays) dependent on the length of time you have worked for us.
  • Our excellent non‐contributory pension plan (we'll contribute 15% and you can contribute more if you wish) is highly valued by our employees, as is complimentary lunch on‐site to keep you fuelled throughout the day.
