As Fire Safety Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring fire safety across the estate. You’ll ensure compliance with fire safety legislation and best practice, while supporting the protection of people, property and heritage in one of the most iconic institutions in the world.

Key Responsibilities

  • You’ll lead and manage the London Fire Safety and Access team, fostering a proactive and collaborative culture while overseeing recruitment, rostering, and performance.
  • You’ll ensure the London Estate maintains effective incident response and compliance with legislation, supported by robust training programmes and strategic oversight of systems, equipment, and staffing to uphold best practice and reduce fire risk.
  • You’ll oversee the inspection, maintenance, and replacement of fire safety equipment across all sites, ensuring accurate asset tracking and working closely with stakeholders to implement preventative systems that minimise hazards.
  • You’ll coordinate the implementation of fire safety policy, risk assessment reviews, compliance tracking, and asset documentation across the London Estate, ensuring alignment with legislation, operational readiness, and industry standards.
  • You’ll build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including internal colleagues and London Fire Brigade, supporting joint training exercises and ensuring timely updates on legislative and procedural changes.
  • You’ll liaise with the Property Director and the Fire Alarm Maintenance Contractor on the design and development of life safety systems across the London Estate
  • Working closely with the Windsor Fire Safety Manager, you’ll ensure teams across both sites are aligned in processes, systems and procedures.
  • You’ll bring a recognised qualification in Fire Safety Management and membership of a professional body such as the FPA or IFSM, along with extensive knowledge and hands-on experience of fire safety compliance requirements in a historic building/estate.
  • You’ll have comprehensive technical knowledge and experience across all aspects of fire safety management – including prevention, protection, preparedness, and response – alongside a strong understanding of passive and active fire protection systems.
  • Confident in interpreting fire strategies and fire risk assessments, you’ll have previous experience in the design, implementation and operation of Fire Alarm systems.
  • You’ll bring a strong background in team leadership, with the ability to inspire, motivate and develop your team.
  • You’ll have strong communication skills, both in speaking and writing. You’ll be experienced in drafting, reviewing and delivering fire training, tailoring your communication to engage effectively and ensure clarity across diverse audiences.
  • You’ll also bring experience in managing budgets and ensuring compliance, alongside confidence in using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint to support day-to-day operations.
