A key role in the efficient operational delivery of the Tattoo, including safety, security and customer experience. This is a temporary position from 10 June – 2 September 2026. You will work a minimum of 40 hours between 07:00-23:30 daily Monday to Sunday, although additional hours may be required. You will be working on a rota basis with the Deputy Site Manager(s) to ensure that a supervisor is always present. Regular late night and weekend work will be required.
Job Purpose Summary: This role is critical to the efficient delivery of operations on the Esplanade, both on show days and non-show days. The role requires effective and timely coordination with partners and the committed support of the deputy and site team to achieve the desired results. The role also plays a key role in pre-show safety and management checks and working with the facilities management team to ensure a positive customer experience. Reporting to the Venue Coordinator, the Site Manager will work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to ensure this positive experience.
Key Duties:
- Site Security/Safety: Maintain a secure site, keeping members of the public from accessing restricted areas. Handover the site each evening to the security team and brief them accordingly. Control and coordinate vehicle access to the site, working closely with HES Esplanade team and site security. Conduct daily safety checks and maintain a live log of all health & safety issues, managing the data to be reflective of each hazard/incident status via Safety Culture. Coordinate requests for personnel access to the site, ensuring that visitors are appropriately accredited. Ensure that site inductions for contractors and relevant staff are conducted. Support the Production Manager to ensure contractors adhere to site rules and submit risk assessments and other documentation for their work on the stands. Manage any initial response procedures e.g. fire alarms.
- Site Logistics: Coordinate with the Senior Site Project Manager and Facilities Management Team to ensure the site is kept clean and clear of waste. Ensure that the site is ready for inhabitation on show days, and rest areas are set up as per specifications for each event. Work with the site stewards and event team to ensure event signage is in situ prior to each event. Manage the site event equipment storage and maintenance. Understanding of temporary site electrical installation.
- Site Management: Manage the Site Assistants and Deputy Site Managers including creating rotas, managing absences and HR reporting. Manual handling work will be required. Ad hoc support to Tattoo core staff. Awareness of Health & Safety at work legislation, with demonstrable understanding and application of skills. Approachable, helpful, and confident. Ability to form and maintain positive working relationships. Proficiency in Microsoft Packages. Over 18 years of age. First Aid Qualified. Health & Safety at work qualification. Security Industry Authority licence holder. Knowledge of ASANA project management and/or Safety Culture.
