The Opportunity
We are looking for a reliable, hands-on Finance Assistant to join our small finance team. Working closely with the Head of Finance, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the finance function, ensuring our financial records are accurate, organised, and up to date. As a small team, this is a broad and varied role offering real responsibility and exposure across all areas of finance. You will need to be comfortable working independently, managing your own workload, and adapting in a busy environment. We are also currently transitioning to a new ERP/finance system, providing an excellent opportunity to be involved in system and process improvements.
What Youll Be Doing
- Processing purchase and sales ledger transactions
- Posting bank entries and preparing bank reconciliations
- Processing supplier payments and supporting cash management
- Assisting with invoice and expense processing
- Supporting month-end activities, including journals and reconciliations
- Maintaining accurate financial records during system transition
- Providing general finance support in a small, hands-on team
What Were Looking For
- Minimum 5 years experience in a finance or accounts role
- Good working knowledge of purchase and sales ledger processes
- Confident using Excel and accounting systems
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Clear and professional communication skills
Just as importantly, you will be:
- Comfortable working in a small team with broad responsibilities
- Able to manage and prioritise your own workload effectively
- Proactive in asking questions and solving problems
- Resilient and adaptable, particularly during periods of change
- Ideally experienced in a small business or fast-paced environment
- Payroll experience is an advantage but not essential.
This role is on site Monday to Friday 8am-4pm 36.25hrs per week.
