And your contribution will help safeguard this iconic building for future generations. The scale and complexity of the project presents fascinating and often unique challenges. You’ll be working on an estate that includes a diverse range of spaces, from State Rooms and offices to residential quarters, all maintained to the highest standards. As an Assistant Project Manager, you’ll assist in the delivery of a diverse range of construction projects, ensuring that the Palace remains operational throughout the works. Key Responsibilities * Assist Project Managers in all phases of the construction lifecycle, from design and pre-construction through commissioning and handover, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high standards. * Evaluate project performance, prepare progress reports, and ensure alignment with established baselines for cost, time, and quality. * Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, consultants, and Royal Household teams to ensure smooth project execution and minimise disruption to operations. * Ensure projects adhere to health and safety regulations, statutory requirements, and historic preservation guidelines while promoting a culture of risk awareness. * Support budget management, procurement, and change control processes to ensure projects deliver value for money and remain financially compliant. * Work closely with logistics and operations teams to manage the impact of works on daily activities, maintain security, and ensure successful integration of completed projects into operational use. Essential criteria: * With experience supporting property projects or construction works, ideally within historic or listed buildings, you will be adept at balancing competing priorities, ensuring projects remain on track and within budget. * You will hold an appropriate level of CSCS card and have a strong awareness of health and safety regulations and training in areas such as asbestos and CDM regulations. * IT literate, you’ll have a good working knowledge of MS Office and, ideally, programme management software such as Aconex. * You will be a natural communicator and skilled at building strong relationships with stakeholders, contractors, and consultants, ensuring collaborative working across teams. * Highly organised and calm under pressure, you’re a logical problem solver with a keen eye for detail. * Working towards a relevant professional qualification in a construction-related discipline or membership of an associated Chartered Institute is highly desirable.
