Akessa Healthcare is seeking to appoint a Consultant Neurologist to lead the development of outpatient Neurological services, as well as support the ongoing treatment and rehabilitation of our neuro and spinal patients.

In this role the appointee is expected to provide comprehensive care for private patients undergoing neurological or spinal rehabilitation. The appointment is based at two sites, The main base, with both outpatient and inpatient care, is based at the Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital in Aylesbury . Satellite outpatient clinics will also be provided at The New Foscote Hospital in Banbury.

The appointee will be provided with luxurious facility, caring environment, ample time and administrative support to deliver world class care.

As a senior colleague, the post-holder will work in close co-operation with, and support, other clinical, medical professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to our patients.

Please note that this role is only suitable for a senior accredited medical consultant already on the UK GMC specialist register.

The ownership of the hospital was transferred to our new management team in January 2023. By joining our existing portfolio, the hospital is now run professionally and provides clinical care to private, insured and NHS patients, with a strong ethos on caring for our staff.

Significant ongoing investment into both hospitals includes complete refurbishment of the wards, the outpatient area, reception, staff facilities, radiology and the construction of additional state-of-the-art operating theatres and endoscopy suites.

With the expansion of the Group this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Consultant Neurologist to join our growing team to provide clinical excellence for our patients at both hospitals.

We have over 50 consultants, all of whom are leaders in their specialist fields and choose to hold their private practices here, working alongside our friendly, highly qualified and experienced nursing and support teams. The clinical outcomes of the hospital are of the highest standards. The latest CQC report rated our hospital standards as good across all parameters.

Our organisation has strong IT, operational, clinical governance and accountancy support.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead on the development of Neuro-Spinal services.
  • Deliver high-quality care for all patients and support the smooth running of the service.
  • Support efficient management of resources and maintenance of our short waiting lists for private and insured patients.
  • Take ownership in the successful performance against key performance indicators, ensuring zero compromise to the quality of care or clinical excellence for patients.
  • In collaboration with department leads, maintain and develop quality standards and improvement throughout the department and in line with any relevant accreditation requirements.
  • Provide on-site clinical expertise as and when needed, supporting MDTs as required.
  • CCT in Neurology or Rehabilitation Medicine
  • Full GMC Registration.
  • Inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register in Neurology or Rehabilitation Medicine.
  • Currently employed, or has previously held substantive NHS consultant post.
  • Eligible to register with private medical insurance companies (BUPA, AXA-PPP etc).
  • Able to take responsibility for delivering the service without direct supervision.
