We are looking for an 18 month fixed term contractData Steward. You’ll be at the heart of how The Royal British Legion manages and uses its supporter data. This is a hands on role for someone who enjoys working with data properly keeping it accurate, secure and reliable, spotting issues before they become bigger problems, and making sure information moves cleanly between the systems that depend on it. You’ll work across our supporter databases and connected platforms, carrying out daily data routines, imports and exports, quality checks and reconciliations, while investigating anything that doesn’t look right and seeing it through to resolution.
Come and be part of the leading Armed Forces charity, making a difference to the lives of those who have served to keep us safe and protect our way of life.
You’ll become a key point of contact for colleagues across Fundraising, Finance Operations, Membership and Corporate Partnerships, as well as our external suppliers and technology teams. That means you’ll need to be comfortable getting into the detail of a data issue, but equally confident explaining what you’ve found to someone who doesn’t work in data. From resolving duplicates and missing information to managing supporter preferences, investigating exceptions and carrying out root cause analysis, you’ll have a genuine level of ownership over the quality of the data we hold and the processes around it. You’ll also be involved in system changes, testing, new functionality and upgrades, making sure data is protected and remains fit for purpose as our systems develop.
We’re looking for someone with solid database experience, ideally gained in a complex, multi-user environment, who takes real pride in getting things right. You’ll bring experience of CRM systems, SQL Server, reporting and acceptance testing, alongside strong Excel skills and an organised, process driven approach. Experience of systems such as Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, Raisers Edge or Talend would be useful, but just as important is your ability to investigate, question, communicate clearly and keep working at an issue until it’s properly resolved. If you like being the person people come to when something in the data isn’t quite right, and you enjoy having both the technical detail and the wider picture in view, this is a role where you’ll have plenty to get your teeth into.
You will be contracted to your home address, and you will perform most of your work remotely there, with occasional travel (incl. For monthly team meetings).
