These are full-time, permanent roles, with a salary of £45,831 – £54,997 per annum plus an annual retention bonus of £3,000 subject to eligibility. The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead is seeking dedicated and skilled Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHPs) to join our Community Mental Health Team. Windsor Ascot & Maidenhead Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) is a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency team providing services within Windsor Ascot & Maidenhead for the local population who require secondary mental health services. It is a joint NHS and Local Authority service which aims to provide a comprehensive range of resources that people with enduring and serious mental ill health can use so that they can lead as fulfilled a life as possible.
As an AMHP, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating Mental Health Act (MHA) assessments, managing a small and capped caseload of complex cases, and contributing to the prevention of compulsory hospital admissions. This role offers autonomy, regular supervision, access to legal advice, and opportunities for professional development through training and legal updates.
You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver care, safeguarding, and support that upholds the dignity, rights, and recovery of service users.
Your role will involve:
- Fulfil statutory duties under the Mental Health Act 1983 (2007) and ensure compliance with relevant policies and Codes of Practice.
- Provide social supervision for service users under s37/41 of the MHA and prepare reports for the Ministry of Justice.
- Manage complex cases through risk assessments, care planning, and contingency planning under the Care Programme Approach (CPA).
- Promote equality, challenge stigma, and safeguard the human rights of service users and their families.
- Contribute to the supervision and training of Social Workers, students, and trainees.
- Facilitate least restrictive community support options by coordinating resources and working collaboratively with partner agencies.
We are seeking motivated professionals with:
- Current AMHP status and Social Work England registration.
- Proven experience in mental health services, including risk management and safeguarding.
- A strong understanding of the Mental Health Act, Care Act 2014, and associated legislation.
- Excellent communication, decision-making, and organisational skills.
