Overview
The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead is recruiting a strategic and compassionate leader to take forward quality assurance, safeguarding governance, and professional standards across Adult Social Care. This role is central to delivering Social Care Futures and ensuring the workforce is confident, skilled, and supported to deliver safe, person-centred, strengths-based care. This is a full-time, permanent role with hybrid working, and a salary of £59,961 – £65,471 per annum. The closing date is 19 October 2025.

Main duties of the job
As Head of Quality and Safeguarding, you will report directly to the Deputy Director of Adult Social Care and work closely with the Principal Social Worker, Principal Occupational Therapist, and the Service Team Manager for the Safeguarding & DoLS Hub. You will:
- Lead quality assurance and safeguarding governance across all adult social care teams.
- Champion professional standards and reflective practice.
- Ensure statutory responsibilities under the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and other legislation are met with integrity and compassion.
- Drive continuous improvement and embed a culture of learning, accountability, and co-production.
- Contribute to RBWM’s strategic priorities: building inclusive, healthy communities, promoting prevention and choice, and delivering compassionate, high-quality services.

Person Specification Qualifications
- Social Work Degree or equivalent. Registered with SWE.
- Advanced professional qualifications (e.g., Practice Educator, AMHP, Best Interest Assessor, Leadership or Management or Change Management), which is desirable.
Experience
- Significant social work experience, working with colleagues across health and social care.
- Experience of managing social care practice in a local government setting.
- Experience of leading a team through a period of change.
- Knowledge of legislation, statutory requirements, and national guidance in relation to Safeguarding and Adult Social Care delivery.
