Champion the journey for children and young people with special educational needs, ensuring they have every opportunity to thrive. This is a part time, 18 hour position. As an EHC Assessment and Review Coordinator, you will play a central role in supporting children and young people with complex needs. You will coordinate their Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessment and review process from start to finish — ensuring their plans are well managed, their voices are heard and their progress is at the heart of everything we do.

Working Style: You will be based in the Borough for 3 days a week, playing a key role in serving the local community. Whether you are working on the frontline or behind the scenes, you will be part of a dedicated team making a real difference to residents’ lives.

What you’ll be doing

  • You will be the consistent point of contact for children, young people and their families throughout the EHC process, managing a varied caseload and ensuring assessments and plans are completed within statutory deadlines.
  • Your day will involve coordinating multi-agency meetings, bringing together professionals from education, health and social care to develop outcome-focused, person-centred plans.
  • You will ensure families feel informed, supported and involved in every decision, ensuring that children and young people are treated as equal partners in shaping their future.
  • You will manage key transitions — such as from primary to secondary education or into adulthood — helping to ensure that support continues seamlessly.
  • A major part of your work will involve maintaining accurate, up-to-date case records, ensuring statutory timescales are met and that information is clearly recorded on our case management system.
  • This is a fast-paced, frontline role where empathy, organisation and attention to detail come together to make a real difference to families’ lives.

What you’ll bring

  • You will be educated to degree level or have equivalent professional experience in the SEN field, with a solid understanding of the Children and Families Act 2014, the SEN Code of Practice (2015) and the Education Act 1996.
  • You will bring hands-on experience from an educational, local authority or similar setting, with proven ability to manage a complex SEN caseload and meet statutory deadlines.
  • Your communication skills — both written and verbal — will be exceptional, enabling you to build trust, explain complex issues clearly and handle challenging conversations with confidence and empathy.
  • You will be highly organised, able to balance competing priorities and maintain accurate, detailed casework records.
  • A strong understanding of the education system and the pathways to adulthood will be key, as will your ability to work collaboratively across multiple agencies.

Interviews will be held in person during the week commencing 1st December 2025. This role will require an Enhanced DBS including Adults and Children’s Barred List.
