Create real opportunities for local people and help shape a fairer future. As an Apprenticeships and Intermediate Labour Market Coordinator, you\βll work at the intersection of business, opportunity and community impact. This role is about opening doors β helping local people move into meaningful apprenticeships, training, and employment, and supporting employers to grow their workforce in ways that benefit everyone.
You\βll be based in the Borough at least 3 days a week, playing a key role in serving the local community. Whether you\βre working on the frontline or behind the scenes, you\βll be part of a dedicated team making a real difference to residents\β lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of a borough-wide apprenticeships programme β building partnerships with businesses, contractors, community organisations and other employers across the public, private and voluntary sectors.
- Create roles that are inclusive, accessible and truly beneficial, working with employers to understand their needs and linking them with residents who are ready to learn and contribute.
- Develop opportunities within the Council itself, from work experience and placements to structured apprenticeship roles, collaborating closely with our HR team.
- Create and coordinate intermediate labour market programmes β helping residents build their confidence and skills through volunteering, work experience and other structured pathways that lead to sustained employment.
Requirements:
- Successful experience delivering apprenticeship or labour market programmes.
- Understanding of the barriers some residents face in finding and sustaining work, and a commitment to building inclusive, supportive routes into employment.
- Proactive, collaborative and organised, with the ability to hold the big picture while keeping track of the details.
What We Offer:
- The freedom to shape a new and important role, part of a refreshed and ambitious Economy and Learning team.
- Strong backing from senior leaders and local partners.
- Development opportunities, a collaborative team and the chance to lead on high-profile partnerships.
We are committed to promoting equality and respecting diversity and welcome applications from all sections of the community. We are a Disability Confident Employer β committed to ensuring that our recruitment and selection process is inclusive and accessible.
We are committed to fair, transparent, and consistent pay practices. New hires will normally start at the minimum of the pay scale. However, a higher starting salary may be negotiated where a candidate demonstrates exceptional skills, knowledge, or experience.
