Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist assessment, brief intervention and evidence-based psychosexual therapy to individuals and couples referred to the Psychosexual Therapy Service within the Florey Clinic.
  • Work autonomously as part of the Contraception and Sexual Health (CaSH) service, delivering focused therapeutic interventions across Reading, Wokingham and West Berkshire using a brief, solution-focused model to support clients experiencing sexual dysfunction, relationship difficulties and related psychological concerns.
  • Utilise highly developed communication skills and robust clinical judgment to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, GPs and external agencies to ensure safe, effective and person-centred care.
  • Deliver focused intervention programmes for patients attending the Psychosexual Therapy Service.
  • Provide the possibility to work in a hybrid model between sites and your home location.

Service context and delivery

The Psychosexual Therapy Service is based with the Contraception and Sexual Health (CaSH) service in the Florey Clinic. The service has a main hub in Reading and satellite clinics in Wokingham and West Berkshire. The service accepts patients from Reading, West Berkshire and Wokingham and offers up to six appointments to clients including the initial assessment; a brief, solution-focused approach is adopted through a variety of delivery methods.

Location and travel

The Reading site is connected by river and has good road and rail links to London, Oxford and Southampton. Reading offers leisure, shopping and cultural facilities, and has strong education options. There is a possibility to work in a hybrid model between sites and a home location.
