Placement Description
This placement offers an exciting opportunity for a student to gain experience within a unique high performance environment at the forefront of sports science, strength and conditioning (S&C) and applied research at The Royal Ballet School.
Responsibilities
- Data entry and administration
- Assisting with physical testing training-load monitoring strategies
- Assisting with growth and maturation monitoring and interventions
- Assisting group and individual session planning and delivery
- Assisting with rehabilitation-focused S&C
- Collaborating with members of the Healthcare and wider interdisciplinary support team
Strong communication skills are essential, as the placement coach will work closely with practitioners across dance, physiotherapy, psychology, sports science, and medical support. The placement coach will also benefit from a structured individual development plan and exposure to a range of learning and professional development opportunities.

- Uphold the School’s policies relating to safeguarding and child protection, behaviour, health and safety, and all other relevant procedures
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people with whom they work or come into contact
- Ensure full compliance with statutory regulations, including Keeping Children Safe in Education(2025), and communicate concerns appropriately
All successful candidates will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, as well as additional pre-employment checks in line with safer recruitment and boarding school regulations.
Person Specification
- Be based in Greater London and studying towards a degree in Sport Science, S&C or related field
- Possess knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and S&C principles
- Ideally, hold applied experience across rehabilitation and adolescence athlete development
- Show knowledge of LTAD, growth and maturation and training of adolescent athletes
- Show enthusiasm for learning within an interdisciplinary high-performance environment
- Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.
