Project Accountant

Full-Time On-site
The Royal Air Force Museum

We are looking to recruit a Project Accountant to join our team based at our Midlands site. You will join us on a part-time, contract basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £27,000 per annum (dependent on experience).

The Royal Air Force Museum is as a national museum, a Government non-departmental public body (NDPB) and a registered charity.

We have two public sites in the Midlands and London and a stored collection at Stafford. Our purpose is to share the RAF story – past, present and future – using the stories of its people and our collections to engage, inform and inspire.

Our vision is to inspire everyone with the RAF story – the people who shape it and its place in our lives.

Our museum commitments are the golden thread that run through everything that we do. These are:

  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
  • Sustainability

What we are looking for in the Project Accountant role:

Are you a skilled Project Accountant with a passion for heritage? Join us at the Royal Air Force Museum—a national museum dedicated to sharing the story of the Royal Air Force: past, present, and future.

With public sites in London and Cosford, and a stored collection in Stafford, we engage and inspire audiences through the stories of our people and our remarkable collection. As a National Museum, we are supported by Government Grant in Aid, along with active fundraising and trading.

We’re looking for an experienced Project Accountant to join our team at a pivotal moment, as we deliver the £30 million “Inspiring Everyone: RAF Museum Development Programme”, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF).

About the Project Accountant Role:

You’ll play a critical role in the financial delivery of our Midlands Development Programme—ensuring robust financial reporting, accurate forecasting, and full compliance with NLHF requirements.

Key responsibilities of the Project Accountant:

  • Lead financial reporting, monitoring, and forecasting for the £30M capital project
  • Ensure compliance with NLHF financial guidelines and documentation
  • Work closely with the Project Manager, internal finance teams, and stakeholders
  • Provide timely updates and analysis to support effective decision-making
  • Contribute to the success of a landmark transformation in the Museum’s history

The role is based at our RAF Museum Midlands site but will involve collaboration across all three Museum locations.

The closing date for applications is: 08/11/2026

Interviews will take place on: 17/11/2026
