We are looking to recruit three Events Assistants to join our team based at our London site . The role is seasonal, part-time (10 guaranteed hours per year with plenty of opportunity for overtime up to 31 March 2027). In return, you will receive a salary of £14.80 per hour . The Royal Air Force Museum is a national museum, a Government non-departmental public body (NDPB) and a registered charity. We have two public sites in the Midlands and London and a stored collection at Stafford. Our purpose is to share the RAF story – past, present and future – using the stories of its people and our collections to engage, inform and inspire. These are: Health and Wellbeing Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Sustainability Events Assistant role The Museum is looking for 3 Events Assistants to support its events programme. This is an on‑site role based at our London site. The postholder will contribute towards the set‑up, operations and pack‑down of public events as the museum looks to offer new and exciting events for our visitors. This could see them support children as they build Airfix models, contribute towards the museum’s flagship event (The Barnet Food Festival) or take the lead on the operations of the annual paper aeroplane contest. An extremely varied role, Events Assistants may be asked to support commercial events as well. Key responsibilities Provide high standards of proactive and reactive customer care Support the set‑up and pack‑down of activities associated with the public events programme Enrich the visitor experience by assisting in the delivery of the museum’s public events programme, which may include but is not limited to Airfix Model 2 Club, school holiday workshops and other activities associated with large‑scale commercial events Take payment of any on‑the‑day sales associated with the public events programme Supervise and support Event Maker volunteers Discretely and sensitively safeguard the security of visitors, colleagues and Museum assets, responding to heightened incident measures as appropriate, in line with Museum policy and procedures Person specification Demonstrable experience in a public facing environment including customer service Demonstrable experience of working in a team, including knowledge and information sharing Ability to work with energy and pace to get tasks done Application dates Closing date for applications: 24 June 2026.
