The Royal Academy of Arts is embarking on a new chapter in its history following the recent appointment of a new Secretary and Chief Executive, Artistic Director and Senior Curator, as well as a new Senior Leadership Team. The creation of two new curatorial positions marks the next step in this renewal process. It presents a rare opportunity to join the Academy at an exciting juncture where we seek to expand our world class and uniquely wide-ranging exhibition programme to reach even broader audiences.
We are currently seeking two experienced Curators to contribute to the development of a world class and wide-ranging exhibition programme in keeping with the exhibition strategy of the Royal Academy. Generating exhibition proposals, seeking collaborative exhibition opportunities and curating temporary exhibitions as specified, this role has a particular focus on 20th century art, although there is still an expectation to have interest in other areas in line with the breadth of the Academy's exhibitions.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have significant curatorial experience within a museum or gallery setting, with expertise in 20th century art and a strong understanding of art history. You will demonstrate excellent research, communication and stakeholder and project management skills, with the ability to develop exhibitions, build professional networks and engage diverse audiences. A collaborative approach, commitment to inclusion and enthusiasm for the Academy's work are essential to the success of this post. Additional language skills are highly desirable, although not essential to this post.
