Purpose of the Role
To provide practical, personal, and administrative support to enable the employer to live independently, manage daily activities, and participate in the community. This role is funded through a Local Authority Direct Payment and must be delivered in a professional, respectful, and person-centred manner.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide support with shopping and errands
- Accompany the employer to appointments, including medical, social, and other engagements
- Provide practical support with finances, such as organising paperwork, budgeting support, and attending appointments together (no sole responsibility for financial decision-making)
- Assist with general day-to-day activities to support independence
- Provide companionship and emotional support where appropriate
- Support planning, organisation, and maintaining routines
- Drive the employer to appointments or activities when required
- Maintain confidentiality and respect the employer’s privacy at all times
- Carry out duties in line with agreed support plans and instructions
Essential Requirements
- Full, clean UK driving licence
- Willingness and ability to drive as part of the role
- Reliable, trustworthy, and punctual
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and use initiative
- Respectful, patient, and supportive approach
Desirable (but not essential)
- Previous experience as a Personal Assistant or Carer
- Experience providing one-to-one or community-based support
- Understanding of person-centred care and professional boundaries

- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check
- Right to work in the UK
- Provision of references if required
- Compliance with Direct Payment employment conditions
