Job Title: Carer
Responsible to: Directly accountable to and taking direction from the employer and the employer’s representative
Hours: 30 hours p/w during school holidays
Work Pattern: Changeable but to be agreed in advance of every holiday.
Hourly Rate of Pay: Week Day: £14.30 / Weekend: £18.59
Based at: Home, Thatcham (Berkshire) & in the community
Job Purpose
To work with 15-year-old girl with a genetic disorder (epileptic & non verbal) both at the home and out in the community. Busy & active family home, fun with a good sense of humour.
To build a trusting & supportive relationship with the young girl & the family. To support the to access social activities within the community and support with daily living by carrying out personal care, feeding via PEG and managing seizures.
She enjoys being outside and having the opportunity to freely explore her surroundings. She loves swimming and accessing local support centres.
Main duties
• All aspects of personal care (washing, dressing, pad changes)
• Feeding – via PEG
• Ensuring safety at all times and managing seizures
• Attending social settings and ensuring the young girl can access appropriate activities
Personal Specification
• Must be kind, patient and willing to learn and take the time to understand the girl’s methods of communication.
• Driver essential as will be required to drive her wheelchair accessible vehicle.
• Must be flexible as hours will be changeable.
