THE ROLE
As Quality Engineer, you will lead the investigation and resolution of quality problems across the production environment. Working within the Quality department and reporting to Steve Ball, you will own the root cause analysis process, support ISO9001 certification, and deliver regular reporting to senior management. This is a role for someone who can work independently, drive improvement, and build trust with colleagues across the business.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Lead problem solving teams through root cause identification using 8D and 5Y methodologies
- Conduct internal audits in line with the scheduled audit programme
- Investigate defect trends and drive corrective and preventative actions to completion
- Champion the retention of ISO9001 certification across the business
- Report to senior management on quality performance, processes, and improvement activity
- Resolve quality issues at pace, working collaboratively with production and engineering teams
- Support the implementation of quality system improvements including DFMEA, PFMEA, and PPAP
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Essential:
- Proven experience in a Quality Engineer or similar quality role within a manufacturing environment
- Solid working knowledge of quality methodologies including 8D, 5Y, Lean, Six Sigma, DFMEA, PFMEA, PPAP
- Experience with internal auditing and ISO9001 quality systems
- Degree qualified in a relevant engineering or technical discipline, or equivalent experience (minimum 4 years)
- Current, valid driving licence (European travel required occasionally)
Useful, not essential:
- CMM inspection or CMM programming experience
- Exposure to aerospace quality standards such as EN9100
- Familiarity with project management tools or methodologies
- Experience sourcing quality improvements in a precision machining or automation environment
