I am looking for a Personal Assistant to work with me for 4 hours per week to access activities such as going to the pub, cinema or shopping. I’m a 61-year-old male living with my wife in the Merthyr area. I am very independent but, having suffered a recent stroke, my mobility is limited and I have poor eyesight. I can be unsteady on my feet, so I often use a Zimmer frame. My restrictions can make me feel isolated at home, and I would like some support to get out and about in the community. I can use a wheelchair in the community.
Tasks and Duties
- To help me gain confidence in my new wheelchair and assist me in social activities within the community.
- To plan with me activities that encourage my development of personal safety.
- To enable me to be more independent and to be able to go on activities of my choosing.
Working Hours / Pay Rate
4 hours per week and additional hours to cover annual leave/sickness. £14 per hour plus mileage allowance.
Type of Person Required
- A person with patience, who understands the restrictions I have.
- A person who is encouraging with good communication skills.
