We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Personal Assistant to engage a 9-year-old boy with PDA autism, Down syndrome, and obesity in fun and supportive activities that promote weight loss and overall well-being. This role aims to create a positive environment where he can develop healthy habits through enjoyable physical activities tailored to his interests and abilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Create an Engaging Activity Plan: Develop a weekly schedule of fun and interactive activities that encourage movement and exercise, keeping in mind his preferences and comfort levels.
- Physical Activities: Nature walks or outings to parks, swimming sessions, playtime at local playgrounds, light games like tag, frisbee, or catch, dance parties with favourite music.
- Nutrition Education Support: Collaborate with caregivers to introduce healthy eating habits through fun cooking activities or snacks that incorporate fruits and vegetables. Assist in having educational discussions about nutrition in a simple and engaging manner.
- Encourage Social Interaction: Facilitate playdates or group activities with peers to promote social skills and make physical activity a shared experience.
- Monitor Progress: Encourage and celebrate small achievements in physical activity and healthy eating, fostering a positive attitude toward weight management.
- Adapt Activities as Needed: Be attentive to his energy levels and mood, adjusting activities to ensure they are fun and not overwhelming or frustrating.
