Hours: 8 hours per week. Flexible, days/times can be discussed at interview stage.

Rates of Pay: £12.71

Work Area/Location: Cannock, WS6 and surrounding areas

About the Job: The purpose of the role is to provide support to and ensure the safety of a 16-year-old young person who has complex needs. The young person is non-verbal and communicates using Makaton and PECS. Support is required with accessing the community, especially the outdoors as this is their favourite place to be in all weathers. You will need to be a driver with your own vehicle and business class insurance due to the requirements of this role. Previous experience of supporting a nonverbal child and use of Makaton/PECS would be beneficial. The young person loves going out in the car to different parks, watching ducks, deer, etc. Therefore, you will need to like driving; this is not expected to be for long periods of time. The young person also enjoys walking.

  • Non smoking preferred.
  • Must be honest and trustworthy.
  • Establish a professional standard of care, which should be maintained at all times.
  • Be prepared to undertake any training that may be required to meet the needs of the role.
  • Ensure that due consideration is given to health and safety at all times.
  • Respect and safeguard the goods and property of the employer.
  • Respect privacy and uphold confidentiality at all times.
  • If you use your car whilst working, then you will require business use on your car insurance.
