Permanent Contract - Hours and rate of pay: 6 hours per week @ £12.40 per hour (Self-employment considered). Tuesday 9.30am to 3.30pm.

FEMALE Temporary PA absence cover - Week to week Contract - Urgent start: 14 hours per week @ £12.40 per hour (Self-employment considered). Wednesday 9.30am to 4.30pm, Friday 9.30am – 4.30pm.

Job Purpose and Work Duties

Job purpose: To assist with the day-to-day activities enabling the employer to maintain an independent and fulfilling life that meets their chosen lifestyle. My hours are subject to change and as much notice will be given if any appointments or emergencies arise.

Michelle is a 48-year-old woman who has several health conditions which affect her everyday mobility and wellbeing. These being Rheumatoid Arthritis, Dystonia and M.E. She's a wheelchair user and has chronic pain; despite this, she remains very upbeat and has a positive outlook on her life.

Michelle needs a Carer/P.A that can drive and holds a current British driving license, who is physically fit as she needs her wheelchair pushed up her car ramp and locked into position. She may sometimes need help with washing and dressing if she asks to go swimming. Someone with a positive outlook on life who will take her to her wheelchair yoga sessions, art classes, shopping, to art and craft classes and to socialise with sports and meet people as she would like to get out more. She will also require help with cleaning her home and sometimes help with cooking as she loves to cook.

Michelle has good and bad days, so whenever she can, she likes to socialise. You would be helping to enrich her life and maintain her independence. She is very easy to get on with and has a kind nature.

Work Duties will include:

  • Helping with Personal Care (dressing & undressing)
  • Some domestic tasks e.g. laundry, housework and meal preparation
  • Shopping
  • Accessing the community / Taking me to appointments
  • Social trips to the seaside and places like Weston
  • Supporting with mobility, ensuring the employer's safety
  • Undertaking activities for the employer
  • Ensuring the employer's home is hygienic and safe

Other Requirements

  • Working in a safe way and highlighting health and safety concerns
  • Assisting with management of employer's health risks
  • Establish and maintain effective communication
  • Maintaining confidentiality

Location

Within the employer's home in the Hanham area.

Requirements for Applicant

  • Driver Required with access to a motor vehicle (Mileage paid and ability to transport manual folding wheelchair required)
  • Good sense of humour
  • Patience
  • Ability to understand and deliver the needs of the employer
  • Ability to undertake domestic activities
  • Flexible, reliable and honest
  • Good general fitness
  • Basic First Aid training would be desired but not essential
  • An enhanced DBS check will be required
