Responsible to: Directly accountable to and taking direction from the employer and the employer’s representative (husband).

Hours: 54 hours a week: Monday – Friday: 7am – 5pm, Saturday & Sunday: 3pm – 5pm (on occasions).

Rate of Pay: £14.30 per hour (Monday – Friday), £18.59 per hour (weekend rate).

Based at: Employer’s own home in Aylesbury.

Job Purpose: To work one to one with an adult with Parkinson’s disease, who has a great sense of humour and lives in her own house with her husband and daughter and a beagle dog. The house has been adapted to make moving around the house easier. She will also need support to care for, i.e. letting out into the garden and feeding. The job could also be a job share.

Main duties:

  • Personal care helping in washing and dressing etc.
  • Administering medication (peg training). Medication must be administered on time.
  • Support in kitchen helping with cooking/breakfast/lunch and providing support.
  • Occasionally light housework such as changing bed linen/cleaning/washing/emptying bins.
  • To report any issues to the lady’s husband.
  • To perform such other duties as may reasonably be required.

Personal Specification:

  • Have experience of working with vulnerable adults.
  • Have a good sense of humour and enjoy a friendly joke.
  • You should have a thorough understanding of personal safety.
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • A willingness to undergo any training highlighted by the employer.
  • You should have some knowledge and understanding of risks.
  • Be patient and caring.

Special Conditions: This post is subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check at the employer's request prior to commencing employment. This is confidential and at no cost to yourself. The post carries a 6 month’s probationary period.
