Hours per week: 14 hours per week (dates & times to be discussed and mutually agreed) (there is some flexibility to this).

Location: Abergele, Conwy

Rate of pay: £15.60 per hour.

About me: Older lady living independently but with some memory issues. Small friendly dog also part of the household. She likes to go to church weekly and her friend visits daily. She wants her garden to be nice and the house clean and tidy. She enjoys quiz shows (especially The Chase). What the lady wants is someone to give support to her to organize herself and the house. There is also a daughter who provides quite a bit of support. Someone with a car is needed. Mileage will be paid.

The kind of person I am looking for is someone who:

  • Must be able to lift a walking aid into a car.
  • Must have access to a vehicle and have a full UK driving licence, with evidence of the policy including Class 1 business use.
  • Will promote and support confidence and independence.
  • Has a person-centered approach and a genuine interest in supporting people to achieve their goals.
  • Can follow instructions and will establish a professional standard of care, to be always maintained.
  • Will not use their personal mobile phone at work unless in an emergency.
  • Is trustworthy, kind, punctual and reliable.
  • Is patient and supportive with good listening skills and an ability to provide non-judgmental emotional support.
  • Maintains confidentiality and respects the privacy of the family, including the prohibited use of social media in relation to the job role.
  • Can work flexibly, adapting to the variable requirements of this role as required.

Tasks and duties, to include any or all the following:

  • Visiting twice per day to make sure that medication is taken correctly, the TV is on the right channel and just making sure that the lady is alright.
  • Checking the temperature in the house is appropriate.
  • Light housework, eg vacuuming, changing the bed, using the dishwasher.
  • Support with basic meal preparation as needed (often it is not).
  • Watering plants in garden.
  • No personal care is needed at this time but may be in the future.
  • Taking her to a memory café and possibly to medical appointments.
  • Liaising closely with daughter in relation to any concerns.
  • Giving support around dog if needed (food/going out in to the garden).

Any other duties not mentioned but that fall within the scope of this role should be discussed and then mutually agreed. Undertake any further training, as mutually agreed.

The role is dependent upon a DBS and 2 references. We are not able to offer sponsorship so proof of Right to Work in the UK is essential.
