As the leader of the accounting team, a financial controller oversees closely monitoring a company's financial health. They typically maintain, manage, and analyze financial statements, payroll, budgets, tax compliance issues, and more.

Job Duties:

  • Assures financial statements are prepared accurately and timely for management, board, and grant submissions.
  • Coordinates the annual financial and 401K audit as well as oversees Accounting’s role in the BCCS and CPRIT government audits.
  • Submits 990 information and reviews for accuracy/reasonableness as well as other regulatory reports required.
  • Ensures internal controls are in place and substantiates that all documentation is approved and available for audit testing.
  • Recommends and implements relevant changes in the financial system, human resources, fundraising and other internal departments to improve efficiency.
  • Coordinates & collaborates with CFO, Executive and Leadership and Accounting team with the annual budgeting & planning process, administers & reviews all financial plans.
  • Manages organizational cash flow forecasting.
  • Leads departmental training & development.
  • Leads & participates in month end closing and year-end closing.
  • Performs regular internal audits and presents results to finance leadership committee.
  • Special projects & ad-hoc analysis & reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience with non-profit organizations.
  • 5 years of experience in the healthcare industry.
