The Roof Gardens is a social club in the sky, 100 feet above the streets of Kensington. Close to an acre of private gardens with views across London to the horizon, The Roof Gardens is a new generation members club.

The Role

We are seeking an accomplished and service-driven Senior Maitre d' to help lead our restaurant reception and front-of-house guest experience. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for creating an exceptional first and lasting impression for our members and guests while ensuring the seamless operation of reservations, seating and service flow.

You will oversee the day-to-day management of the Maitre D' team, optimise reservations and table allocation, and work closely with the Restaurant Manager and senior leadership to deliver a consistently outstanding dining experience. You will lead by example, champion the highest standards of hospitality and play an integral role in driving guest satisfaction, operational excellence and commercial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver an exceptional welcome to members and guests.
  • Manage reservations, table allocation and guest flow to maximise service and occupancy.
  • Build strong relationships with members, regular and VIP guests.
  • Coordinate special requests, celebrations and dietary requirements.
  • Resolve guest enquiries and feedback professionally and efficiently.
  • Monitor reservation systems, waiting lists and guest records.
  • Support revenue through effective table management and appropriate upselling.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, policies and health and safety procedures.

About You

  • Strong leadership and organisational skills with a passion for exceptional guest service.
  • Experience using reservation systems such as OpenTable, SevenRooms or ResDiary.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Commercially aware with a good understanding of restaurant operations.
  • Calm, professional and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
