The Five Bells Inn is an iconic country pub in the picturesque village of East Brabourne, known and loved by locals and the wider South Kent community alike. Winner of 2019's National Pub of the Year Award, The Bells currently serves the best in locally sourced and seasonal dishes, built around a core menu plus daily specials, all created by Head Chef James Pearce and his amazing kitchen team. The Bells also possesses a stunning Summer terrace, complete with Garden Bar, and 4 beautiful guest rooms located above the pub.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join the current team under the management of Iryna Usenko, who has been involved with the running of the pub for the last 5 years. The Five Bells Inn is part of the wider Pickled Egg Pub Company and Rocksalt Group, providing excellent opportunity for career progression within an established and highly regarded hospitality company. About the role: Ideally, you will have gained experience within high volume kitchens as either a Head Chef or Sous Chef and want to progress your career further. We are looking for a hard-working, creative and passionate industry professional with at least one year’s experience at Sous Chef level in a high end, fast paced environment. You will be responsible for the smooth running of a busy kitchen in the Head Chef's absence. We offer excellent opportunities to all of our chefs and encourage them to get involved with new menu ideas and work closely with the Head Chef which encourages personal development. A standard working week is based around 45 hours with the option of fully paid overtime above and beyond this. Up to £37,500 per annum package plus company benefits. Live in position available.
About You: Ideally, you will have gained experience within high volume kitchens as either a Junior Sous or a Sous Chef. Food Safety Level 2 qualification or above. Your Key Attributes: Have a proven track record in delivering the highest quality dishes in a busy and pressured environment. You must take responsibility, along with the other senior members of the kitchen team, for making sure every dish that leaves the kitchen is of the highest standard. Be proactive in developing the rest of the kitchen team below them, inspiring them to progress as chefs within the industry. Assist in ordering and controlling of stock whilst maintaining the highest health and safety practices throughout the kitchen. Be able to lead the team and cover the Head Chef's role as and when necessary. You must be a team player.
