The difference you will make as a Support Assistant
Key responsibilities of the role include the safety and wellbeing of everyone in our supported housing service. The role focuses on:
- Working with customers who have a range of needs, supporting them in conversations and calls from their GP, Social Services, or benefits teams, and dealing with emergency services when required.
- Logging incidents to maintain accurate records.
- Cleaning and preparing rooms for the next occupant.
Support customers
Using Psychologically Informed approaches and Trauma Informed Care principles, you will:
- Assist in the planning and delivery of personalised support and move-on plans.
- Understand the risk management process and help the team conduct regular reviews.
- Inspire and motivate customers to meet agreed outcomes and develop life skills.
- Assist customers with day-to-day support and tenancy-related matters.
- Identify opportunities for employment, education and training and support access.
- Signpost customers to external services such as food banks.
- Support customers to be ‘tenancy ready’, enabling successful move-on.
- Help customers achieve financial independence through budgeting.
- Monitor customers’ healthcare needs and liaise with professionals.
- Empower customers to manage medication following Riverside’s procedure.
- Maintain accurate records on the digital platform.
- Promote customer involvement and consultation.
- Assist in delivering group work sessions.
Deliver a support service
- Support the referral process for new customers.
- Contribute to housing management, including income collection and tenancy support.
- Maintain a safe environment and report repairs or health and safety concerns.
- Clean and prepare customer rooms.
- Resolve challenging situations sensitively, balancing individual and service safety.
- Ensure safety by following safeguarding procedures.
- Maintain local partnerships for holistic support.
- Carry out day-to-day administration and operational duties.
- Update financial administration systems.
- Assist in submitting funding, health & safety, and performance returns.
- Act as point of contact on the phone, reception, and enquiry handling.
Other duties
- Work flexible hours outside normal office times.
- Use the Lone Worker system as necessary.
