Position Summary: Reporting to the Director of Family and Alumni Engagement, the Assistant Director of Family and Alumni Events is responsible for implementing and managing engagement events that cultivate meaningful connections to encourage involvement, support, and philanthropic engagement with The Rivers School. We seek a candidate who has a passion for connecting across constituents, who leads with a customer-service mindset, and has a careful and creative approach to engagement events and execution. In this role, this teammate will manage a variety of responsibilities around engagement, including event and program management and promotion, and related logistical tasks.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist in planning and managing logistics, budgeting, vendor coordination, and execution of all student-facing, community, and alumni events including Prize Day, Graduation, Friday Night Lights, State of the School, Spring Social, and new parent dinners, parent and caregiver coffees, Reunion, Homecoming, other programs as required.
- Support the Director of Family and Alumni Engagement in all Parents' League planning and logistics relating to parent and caregiver engagement opportunities.
- Support advancement team efforts through event management, including preparation of collateral material (registration links in Blackbaud/NXT, communications, nametags, invitations, signage, etc.).
- Manage pre- and post-event tracking with the Director of Development Information Systems.
- Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team and the Director of Annual Giving to drive promotion and support event follow-up initiatives.
- Collaborate effectively with other departments across campus, including Admission, Athletics, Equity and Engagement, and The Rivers School Conservatory teams to integrate and align engagement opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required
- 3 - 5 years of professional experience in alumni relations, parent engagement, event planning, volunteer management, development, or a related field, preferably within an educational setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present ideas and information clearly and the ability to engage across all audiences.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Collaborative team player able to integrate into The Rivers School community and its advancement team.
- Experience with Blackbaud, Google Suite, Mailchimp, GiveCampus and Microsoft Office Suite, preferred.
- Self-motivator with a desire to learn and take ownership of tasks from assignment through to completion.
- Understanding that some early morning, evening, and weekend work is required and expected throughout the year.
