Provides support to Servers in the delivery of technically proficient, efficient and personalized luxury food and beverage service. Specifically assists with refreshment of beverages, bread service, food delivery, venue cleanliness, table maintenance and food delivery. May involve taking and serving food and beverage orders. Prepares restaurant for service by stocking equipment, preparing mise-en-place and cleaning.
Essential Duties
- Provides luxury food and beverage service to guests courteously and professionally and willing to take initiative in delivering empowered hospitality.
- Speaks confidently about Food and Beverage items with guests.
- Anticipates the needs of guests and Ladies and Gentlemen by ensuring all supplies are readily available before and during service.
- Maintains a clean, safe and accident-free environment, and immediately responds to the needs of all guests and fellow Ladies and Gentlemen.
- Sets up, cleans, and breaks down restaurant and bar venues, and maintains equipment, supplies, and goods in all work areas. Reports any issues to management.
- Transports food, supplies and materials between galleys, restaurants and other food venues.
- Polishes china, glass and silver.
- Retrieves and delivers Food and Beverages from Bars and Galleys to guests’ tables, including describing items and answering questions about items.
- Adheres to sanitation and cleaning plans throughout all venues. Assists with inspection and proper preparation for internal and official Health and cleanliness.
- Assists with inventory processes including requisitions and receiving.
- Ensures compliance with Public Health and all Safety and Labor Regulations.
Qualifications
- Valid Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) and flag certification for the duration of the contract and appropriate to position.
- Good knowledge and experience in Public Health rules and regulations related to USPH and HACCP.
- Previous Assistant Waiter or Waiter experience in a five-star restaurant or onboard a luxury cruise restaurant environment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to touch, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, and taste or smell. The Lady or Gentleman must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. All Yacht Ladies and Gentlemen must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills. Full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. All Yacht Ladies and Gentlemen must be able to communicate in the English language in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors and co-workers.
