Are you an experienced Mold Maker who takes pride in precision, craftsmanship, and building high-quality injection molds from the ground up? A medical device and injection molding manufacturer is seeking a Mold Maker to join a brand-new product development facility in Plymouth, MN. This intermediate-level role offers hands-on involvement in all aspects of mold building, maintenance, and repair, while working closely with senior Mold Makers. The position provides strong opportunities for continued growth, advanced training, and long-term career development.
Schedule: Flexible day shift (start time between 4:00 A.M. – 8:00 A.M.). Get out early on Fridays!
Essential Job Duties:
- Build precision injection molds and related tooling from CAD models and engineering drawings while meeting tight tolerances and quality standards.
- Collaborate with senior Mold Makers to expand skills in mold design, build, maintenance, repair, and injection molding processes.
- Independently set up, program, and operate CNC equipment including 3- and 5-axis mills, sinker EDM, and grinders with minimal supervision.
- Modify and repair existing molds, fixtures, and tooling per drawings, solid models, or verbal instructions.
- Perform in-process and final inspections to ensure components meet engineering specifications and customer requirements.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance on machining equipment to maintain performance and reduce downtime.
- Participate in individual and team continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient tool room environment.
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Support additional duties as needed to meet business and production needs.
Minimum Requirements:
- 2-year technical or trade school degree in toolmaking or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 5+ years of experience building injection molds in a manufacturing environment.
- Intermediate understanding of CAM programming software.
- Experience setting up and operating 3- or 5-axis CNC mills, sinker EDM, and grinders.
- Proficiency using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauge pins, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and passion for high-precision work.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Reliable attendance and professional, courteous workplace behavior.
- Humble, team-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn and share ideas.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Mastercam or CAM-TOOL.
- Silicone mold building experience.
- Strong mechanical curiosity and problem-solving skills.
Position Details, Pay, & Schedule:
- Full-time, Direct-hire position with comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) with match, PTO, holidays, etc.).
- Monday-Friday with flexible day-shift start times.
- 100% Onsite – Plymouth, MN.
- Competitive pay: $29-40/hr – depending on experience.
