Position: Healthcare Assistant – Ridgeway Hospital (Swindon) – 25 hours a week (part‑time, permanent).

Job Overview: Join the Endoscopy department as a Healthcare Assistant. The role requires covering a flexible shift pattern and supporting patient care across a variety of tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care and mobility needs, respecting their preferences and dignity.
- Help patients with eating, drinking and nutritional support, including documenting intake where appropriate.
- Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives, creating a caring and safe environment.
- Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation and blood glucose levels (after appropriate training).
- Support basic clinical procedures, including wound care set‑up, assisting with catheter care, pressure area prevention and mobilisation aids.
- Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including trolleys, beds and equipment in readiness for patient use.
- Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapists and admin teams to support safe and efficient patient care.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital, care home, community or domiciliary).
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude.
- Ability to follow instructions and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Basic literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
- Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) desirable.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control and confidentiality procedures.
