The Richmond Group is the Benamor family’s family office, managing over £500m of assets. We build, invest in, and lend to startups in the property and consumer & business finance markets, both in the UK and internationally. RG’s central team is very small, with fewer than 20 people. The combined headcount of RG companies which we hold majority or large minority stakes in can be in the hundreds or thousands. RG’s aim is to deploy our money in ways that build great companies that solve real world problems and become strongly self-sufficient, with the ultimate aim of multi-billion £ floatation or exits. When those companies are young, or when things go badly we are often more involved, particularly around financial controls. Because of this, working even in a junior role in Finance at RG can mean being involved in a wide range of businesses, systems and negotiations. RG is somewhere you come to learn more that you’ve learned in your previous roles combined, and to do the best work of your life.

Who you Are:

You are a details person whose accuracy and attention to detail borders on unhealthy. You love working out complex problems, and understanding how things fit together. You will understand the responsibility of being trusted with management of our family’s money, and will treat it with exactly the same respect as if it was your own.

What we’ll ask you do to:

  • Take responsibility for the day-to-day reconciliation process.
  • Processing of invoices for both sales and purchase ledger accounts, including protecting against overcharging by suppliers, and looking for ways in which companies can save money.
  • Completing bank and supplier statement reconciliation processes.
  • Actively seek out opportunities to streamline processes and help provide information to key stakeholders more accurately and efficiently.
  • Liaising with operations teams and suppliers to solve any problems that may arise.
  • Supporting month end processes and reporting.

What we think you’ll need:

  • Experience in a finance role, particularly where you are solely responsible for one or more functions of the business.
  • Any examples of having to solve business problems which involve reporting to a regulator or government office, where you had to research and learn about rules on your own.
  • Excellent communication skills. You have to like talking through problems with colleagues.
  • Experience delivering important work to a tight deadline.
  • Ability to be flexible with problem solving and adapt to daily challenges.
  • Effective time management and the ability to prioritise the important tasks.
  • Good knowledge of Excel/Google Sheets.
  • Experience using any accounting systems such as Quickbooks or Xero.
  • Examples showing your ability to apply professional skepticism, interrogating data and information when it does not align with your expectation.

What could help:

  • Payroll experience is useful but not essential.
  • Any history of helping to prepare tax returns or accounts, for example for your own small business.

What we offer in return:

  • Company pension.
  • On-site cafe.
  • On-site gym.

This role is based in our Bournemouth office.
