We are seeking a talented and commercially minded Womenswear Designer to join an exciting new division within an established global apparel supplier. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a growing business unit that combines the energy and pace of a start‑up with the backing, expertise, and manufacturing capability of a highly successful international organisation. Based in London, you will join a small, dynamic team responsible for designing and developing trend‑led womenswear collections for leading high street retailers and supermarket accounts. Working closely with customers and manufacturing teams in India, you will play a key role in driving product innovation and delivering commercially successful collections.
Main Responsibilities Will Include:
- Designing commercially successful womenswear collections across multiple product categories, with a key focus on: soft separates, jersey and denim.
- Building strong relationships with key retail customers and supporting their product development requirements.
- Identifying new product opportunities and contributing to the continued growth of the division.
- Supporting the wider team with innovative ideas and helping to shape the future direction of the business.
- Researching seasonal trends, consumer insights, catwalk influences, and competitor activity to identify new opportunities.
- Translating trends into commercially viable product suitable for a range of high street and supermarket customers.
- Creating seasonal concepts, colour palettes, fabric direction, prints, washes, and key design details.
- Producing detailed design packs, technical sketches, and product specifications for development and sampling.
- Working closely with merchandising, sourcing, and technical teams to ensure products are developed in line with customer requirements and target costs.
Person Specification:
- Proven experience within womenswear design, ideally gained within a supplier, retailer, or branded fashion business.
- Excellent understanding of fabric development, garment construction, fit, washes, and finishing techniques.
- Experience designing for high street retailers, supermarket accounts, or other volume‑driven fashion businesses.
- Strong trend forecasting and interpretation skills with the ability to balance creativity and commerciality.
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and relevant design software.
- Experience creating detailed design packs and managing product development from concept through to sample approval.
