We're recruiting on behalf of a leading UK fashion supplier, currently looking for a
Junior Fabric Technologist to join their growing team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone early in their career to develop their technical expertise within a fast-paced, established fashion business, working closely with experienced technologists on fabric testing, quality and compliance across ladies multiproduct.
Main Responsibilities Will Include
- Work with fabric mills to ensure that fabric is submitted for testing in-line with the critical path.
- Review bulk test reports and work with mills to improve fabric qualities which don't meet standards.
- Assist with fabric approvals and communicate comments clearly to our customers' ( both on email and individual testing platforms).
- Check fabric information is accurate on mill fabric specifications.
- Assist with in-house quality checks such as washing shrinkage, print durability and colourfastness.
- Support sustainability and compliance requirements by chasing mills for relevant certificates such as GRS Transaction Certificates.
- Help maintain the company's fabric and yarn database and add new qualities to the system (ensuring information is accurate).
Person Specifications
- Good understanding of textile testing and quality standards.
- Strong attention to detail and an organised approach.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Confident communicating with suppliers and internal teams.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Commercial awareness and an interest in fashion and textile innovation.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Textile Technology, Textile Science, Fashion Technology or a related discipline is desirable.
- Basic knowledge of textile fibres, yarns, fabric construction and finishing.
