A great opportunity has arisen for an experienced Garment Technologist to join a leading outerwear and leisure supplier on a part-time freelance basis. Based in their London office, you’ll be working 1-2 days per week supporting the design team on the development of high-quality, cost-effective children’s outerwear and leisurewear collections. This hands-on role is ideal for a technically skilled garment tech who understands the full product lifecycle and is confident advising on fit, construction and production viability.
Main responsibilities will include:
- Running in-house fit sessions and providing clear, proactive technical advice to designers in line with brand standards
- Translating CADs into accurate 1st protos by advising on fabric choice, construction and cost-effective solutions
- Liaising with the in-house design team and offshore sample rooms in China
- Ensuring proto garments meet specification and customer standards
- Maintaining and updating the block library and sourcing relevant samples
- Measuring bought samples for both development and reference use
Person Specification:
- Proven experience in garment technology within childrenswear
- Strong understanding of garment construction, fabrics and fit techniques
- Confident working closely with designers and offshore factories
- Skilled in measuring and evaluating garment samples
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
